Who is Andrea Ramirez Armada

Forbes 30 under 30 to be born, escaped and re-born.

Andrea is a multilingual award-winning Venezuelan director, raised in the US and currently living in the UK.

She started her career early, at the age of 19 when she came back from the States for Uni because she was eager to get as close as possible to a set. During those days she took a job as a runner and junior creative for ARS DDB, one of the most prestigious Agencies in Caracas. 

​

Subsequently, she worked for well-known companies like HBO, Sony Pictures and NBC Universal's E! Entertainment Television as a creative, editor, writer, producer and director for programmes like E! News and E! News Update;  shooting original content for parts of the show, commissioning and sourcing originals from all over LATAM and the US and once, even airing the show during one of the massive power cuts in the city. What's that? Airing a show with no electricity? Check!

However, her days in Caracas were permeated by social unrest due to the declining socio-eco-political situation in the country. Hugo Chávez had been president for some years now, his government had been characterised by destroying the private sector, aggravating the social discrepancies that already existed in the country and the creation of an unnamed paramilitary force which preyed on Venezuela's most innocent citizens with violence and hate.

It was one fateful day, nearing the end of her uni time, when, after work, she was kidnapped by four individuals of said force and miraculously fought her way out of it. For the grim details of how she managed to do such a task, you'll have to ask her directly in person, I assure you, they are worth listening to, but out of respect for the less gory readers, we'll leave it out of this section.

After that incident, it took her about 3 minutes to decide her escape of the beautiful dystopia she was living in, so she ended up in London, having to start over again, as non of her contacts were transferable, in a new city where no one knew her.

Six years have passed since she arrived on these tea-fanatic shores and she's not looked back since. The United Kingdom has become more her home than she expected and her career, although still starting...again, has been quite successful for someone who just came out of the blue. Partly, attributed to her diverse background, which gives her a uniquely global perspective, a characteristic that distinguishes her on every project she dives into.
